My life is a mass of sticky notes
It’s less than a month away! Thursday, September 2nd, I’ll be setting off on The Island Walk, a 700km (or maybe just a few more) trek that circumnavigates Prince Edward Island. I’ll share here how I’m preparing, but to be clear, despite many long hikes, I am no expert and am learning as I go, often from actual experts. Maybe what I’m learning will be helpful to others, or at least you could learn from my mistakes!
Some may be wondering why I’m walking 700km. This idea formed during the depths of the pandemic, so clearly I was craving adventure, but I may have been a bit delusional at the time, too. That said, I do like adventure. I like a challenge. I like nature and travel. I like walking and hiking. And I like visiting my brother and his family, who happen to live in beautiful PEI. Coincidentally, I’ll be walking in PEI when I reside in PEC, Prince Edward County. See? It’s meant to be!
Waterfront Trail at Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary. I’m always discovering new places to walk in preparation.
I’ll now be blogging every few days about how preparations are coming along, reviewing some of the new gear I got, my challenges, and all the great books and resources I’ve discovered along the way.
An important component of my walk is being finalized, too, but I’ll write about that in the next post when details are confirmed. Stay tuned.
During the walk, I’ll continue to write about the adventure. Likely I’ll vlog parts as well, so I hope people might follow along. I’ll be adding links for those videos here and lots of pics, so please subscribe if you haven’t already to be notified of new posts. You can also follow on my Instagram at: christines_creativeworks and on public posts my facebook page (so no need to “friend” me to follow along).
See you back here soon, Christine
